Game, set and match to Solosat and the FA370

24 OCTOBER 2014

Solosat deploys the antenna regularly as part of the coverage for the ATP Tennis Tour. The FA370 delivers multi channel HD feeds to a worldwide audience from ATP tournaments all over the globe.

We’re delighted to say that throughout over 80 deployments around the globe and involving more than 600 days of operation since 2004, the FA370 still delivers superior performance. Its high capacity allowed Solosat to make the transition from SD to HD back in 2011 without the need for new antenna equipment.

The original 2004 antenna (which is still used regularly) has performed so well and survived numerous deployments that it has now been complimented by a second new FA370. Whilst cheaper antennas are available Solosat considered the only real contender was another FA370.

Solo Satellite Communications Ltd has operated SNGs for seventeen years and completed many thousands of days of successful transmissions. They use three Ku-band Satellite News Gathering vehicles, two 2.4m Ku band flyaway uplinks, and two 3.7m dual band flyaway uplinks. All SNG units are available for ad hoc daily hire with engineer or for longer-term contract work.

Keith Marshall, MD of Solosat said of the FA370 “Solo's 3.7m Dual band flyaway system is ideal for rapid deployment of MCPC or multiple SCPC digital video for broadcasters at major sporting events or news stories.

When used in conjunction with Solo's multi channel Reflex Statistical Multiplex System, our flyaway completes a powerful temporary Earth station solution capable of delivering multiple HD broadcast quality channels very cost effectively.

The '3.7' is also very worthy of consideration for emergency restoration (or installation) of a fixed satellite service or even for planned outages for major earth station maintenance. Amazingly for an antenna of this size, it is also based upon a non - penetrating mount, and so can be deployed in any location. With a Maximum EIRP of 73dBW at C - band, and 77dBW in Ku - band.”
